I would love to make your cake for you! Any special occasion is reason enough for cake!

The cakes I make are frosted in Fondant which is a sugary substance used to cover cakes and make a smooth finish. I see it as the beautiful wrapping for a yummy cake!

I can make a couple cakes a week depending on how extravagant each cake is. Please email me your request at cakesofcali@gmail.com to get a quote and reserve an open date.

Sprinkles Cake!

I finally found an excuse to make my first cake here in California! Yay! I have been wanting to try out a few things and I took the pleasure of doing so on this cake. The fondant I used to cover this cake is homemade Marshmallow Fondant. Yes, a fondant that actually tastes good! I tried this fondant once before in Hawaii but did not like it at all, but I think it was just the humidity in Hawaii that made the marshmallow fondant very stretchy and almost melty. But it worked perfect this time here in California so I’m very excited about that! This was also my first time making a bow for the top of the cake. I had some trouble with the bow the first time I tried it because I made the bow loops out of marshmallow fondant thinking the fondant would dry and hold it shape, but after two days of waiting for the marshmallow fondant to dry it still would not hold its shape as I tried to put all the loops together. So I had to start over and the second time I made the bow loops out of gumpaste (I think next time I’ll try a mixture of gumpaste and marshmallow fondant together) and they dried very nicely.  The sprinkles them was for my 7 year old nephew James who loves sprinkles! The cake was a new chocolate pound cake that I wanted to try out with a chocolate buttercream filling. Although it’s not a rich chocolate cake like I was hoping, it’s still good, and it has a lighter chocolate taste that people who aren’t chocolate fanatics might like. My husband who does not like chocolate said he really likes the cake so I’ll keep it in my recipe pile to use. All in all I learned a lot of great things with the cake and I’m happy with how it turned out!
