Well, I made this cake for my husband for Valentine’s Day….it’s a little late…but better late than never! Whenever I finish a cake my husband always makes a comment about how he never gets to cut into and eat the “cool” cakes. So I told him I would make him one for Valentine’s Day to make him feel better and show him how much I love him! It also gave me a chance to try out some modeling chocolate roses which I’ve been wanting to try for a while now. Even though it is super girly…can you make a valentine’s cake that isn’t girly? I put the blue bow on there to add a little boy color in there. Hope he likes it!

Firefighter Helicopter Pilot Birthday Cake
Another fun cake order for this weekend! I love how this turned out! The helicopter is made out of Rice Krispie Treats and modeling chocolate. It was raining and humid outside when I was making it and so everything was having a hard time holding it shape, but I think we made it work. My husband helped me out a TON with the helicopter. Thank you so much husband!! He has more experience with the shape of helicopters since he was in the Army so I had him do a lot of the shaping and molding and he did a fantastic job! I love how the flames look against the black background too.

Golf ball Anniversary Cake
My friend ordered this cake from me for her and her husband’s anniversary and apparently her husband is an avid golfer! I hope he approved of my golf ball cake and modeling chocolate tee. Happy anniversary you two!

Vegas/Poker Cake
This cake was a lot of fun! All the decorations are made out of modeling chocolate and taste good so you can pick up a poker chip or a playing card, take a bite out of it and actually enjoy it! I also was able to experiment with my new cricut machine and found out that it actually works really well with Wilton’s new sugar sheets, which is pretty awesome. The letters, numbers and heart shapes on the cards were cut using the Cricut. On the Vegas sign I made a stencil for the letters and used food coloring to paint them on. Viva Las Vegas! Thanks for looking!

Sock Monkey Artist Cake
I made this cake for a 12 year old girl who loves Art and Sock Monkeys and it turned out so cute! I couldn’t quite get the picture in my head of how to do it when I first heard the words “sock monkey” and “art” together on a cake, but it all started coming together after I started putting everything on. The Sock Monkey made a mess with all his painting supplies! Definitely a very unique cake!

Tinkerbell & Friends Fairy Cake
We took a little drive to Hollywood this afternoon to deliver this Tinkerbell & Friends cake! This little girl has some amazing parents because they set up the most awesome party for a 4 year old I have ever seen! The customer had this tree cake holder already and I just brought the cakes and put them on when we got there. The cake holder was a little wobbly once we put the cakes on since the weight wasn’t evenly distributed, but the family found a weight to put on the side of it which balance it out and helped everything stay upright and sturdy! There was also a bouncy castle, amazing decorations and ponies at the party! Now that’s a party!

SUPERMAN!!!!
This was a cool cake for a little boy’s 3rd Birthday Party! Loved it! I of course had to buy the Superman action figure for the cake topper because I didn’t want to attempt to make one myself out of fondant and have it look nothing like the real thing. Plus this was a great way to give a little birthday present to the birthday boy myself! The best part for me is dropping off the cake and seeing the reaction of the people I made it for and this little boy was smiling when he saw it and got up on a chair to look at it when I put it on the table for display. I think he liked it! I tried out modeling chocolate for some of the details and I think I really like modeling with this better than fondant and who doesn’t like the taste of chocolate! The Superman “S” logo, the airplane and sign are all made from the modeling chocolate. And it’s only two simple ingredients…chocolate and corn syrup.
